George has worked in business for more than twenty-five years as an entrepreneur, consultant, dealmaker, and executive for early and mid-stage companies. He has substantial concentrations in finance, technology, consulting and numerous forms of transaction work. George has worked to build new companies, grow existing businesses, form strategic relationships and most often puts energy to new ways of doing things.
George dropped out of Northwestern University to found his first technology business, which grew under his leadership to more than $30M in revenue and was acquired by a public company in 1996. After effectuating the sale of the company, George served as a senior executive in the new firm where revenues exceeded $100M.
Following the sale of his company, and his brief “retirement”, George worked in mergers and acquisitions where he brokered the sale of private businesses ranging in value from $2-20M, while also serving as a trusted advisor to small business leaders working to grow, fund and eventually exit their businesses.
Today George advises wealth Clients individually, leads the Advisory team and sets the strategic vision for SouthPark Capital. Throughout the industry George is a sought after speaker at national events as well as a confidant and mentor to those who lead successful financial practices of their own.
George’s insatiable curiosity, action oriented approach and broad ranging interests are invaluable to those he advises. Clients often remark on the relevance of his real world, first person experience and the unique insights he brings to their financial puzzles. George makes his home in Charlotte, NC, with his wife Robin, their daughter Sarah, and Lucy Cupcake, their Golden Retriever.
Iain has been working with individual and institutional investors since 1992. Affiliated with Kalos since 2012, he joined the company in January 2015 to manage and grow its Private Wealth Group. As the group’s manager, Iain looks to build upon the core strengths of Kalos capitalizing on the collective investment and insurance expertise into more sophisticated solutions sought by investors.
A graduate of Maryville College, Iain spent much of his career working with financial services companies predominantly based in Hamilton, Bermuda. His specialization was implementing strategies utilized by ultra-high net worth investors and their Advisers seeking tax efficient solutions. This integrated customized investment management strategies wrapped within privately placed insurance programs. In 2007 Iain founded his consulting companies which contracted international financial services companies to assist with general operation and administration matters. Quite frequently Iain has been called upon to lead M&A strategies of companies specializing in private placement insurance products.
With his experience and relationships, Iain is well positioned to assist Kalos and its clients looking to implement the multitude of complex financial products available.
Janet comes to finance from a long career in retail management, marketing, community leadership and entrepreneurship. Throughout more than thirty years in business, Janet has distinguished herself as a thought leader in client service, consistently finding ways to deliver more than promised ahead of schedule. Janet’s approachable, down-to-earth demeanor arises from her experiences growing up in an Indiana farming community where one’s word truly served as their bond.
Having held positions of substantial responsibility for the likes of Saks Fifth Avenue and Brooks Brothers, as well as numerous community centered and entrepreneurial roles, she finds her varied and diverse background an asset in responding to any request for help and truly puts her personal integrity into each and every task she handles. In her role as Financial Advisor Janet forms relationships with our valued Clients, assisting them in executing every aspect of their financial goals.
Janet’s family provides personal-life experience with retirement needs, assisting her late-80’s parents as they navigate Medicare and all aspects of financial planning. Having lived in Charlotte for over 20 years, Janet takes great pride and joy in her three adult children and their English Setter, Lily.
Michael Crowder is a Georgia native who began his career in the financial business in 1993 when he moved to Dallas TX, eventually Boston MA, and ultimately back to his home state of Georgia.
A combat veteran (Desert Storm and Desert Shield), he worked his way through college in the US Air Force Reserves. At the conclusion of those military campaigns, Michael completed his undergraduate degree in Finance from Kennesaw State University, where he would later return to obtain his MBA through their executive program.
Having held senior positions at some of the biggest names in the business, his most memorable experience was his participation in creating one of the first web-based, financial planning applications at Fidelity Investments. Yes, he was the person moving the mouse in the Peter Lynch commercials.
Michael spent several years at Merrill Lynch during which he traveled to all 50 states conducting financial seminars based on modern portfolio theory. Michael presented to well over 100,000 people during his tenure at Merrill. Later Michael devised innovative outreach for advisors at E*TRADE following corporate mergers and acquisitions.
Michael is a Certified Mergers and Acquisitions Professional and is a great resource for those conducting due diligence. Michael is also astute in numerous methods transaction participants might utilize to reinvest and shelter their proceeds. Michael is keenly aware of the stress involved with selling a family business or holding a large amount of restricted shares when a company is reorganizing. As such, Michael can be that objective third party to help keep you on point during this stressful time.
Michael likes to say it was his never-ending curiosity that landed him at SouthPark Capital. Michael feels the unique combination of Endowment Model investment theory and powerful Tax Mitigation tools give him a unique, custom wealth offering larger firms simply can’t replicate.
Michael has a wife, daughter and two golden retrievers. He is an avid skeet/sporting clays shooter, habitual bad golfer and many say he cooks one of the best steaks around. Working with Michael is like working with a family member or best friend. There is no doubt he has your best interests at heart.
Steve has been in executive level management positions for more than thirty years, working primarily in small to midsize private and public companies. His positions have ranged from Vice President of Sales in a technology company, to Chief Financial Officer of a public biotechnology company, to Chief Executive Officer of a public health and wellness company.
After selling his $30M technology business in 1996 to a public company he remained with the acquiring firm until 1999 as Vice President and General Counsel. Since that time, Steve has worked in the private and public equity markets, raising capital for technology, biotech and software companies.
As a result of his wide-ranging experience, Steve has been called upon to serve in senior management posts performing mission-critical assignments including the legal execution of public SEC filings, vendor contract negotiations and internal employee agreements for key management personnel. Steve received a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and a JD from the John Marshall Law School.
Steve’s career in business and his extensive capital markets background provide valuable insights as he advises clients seeking to protect and grow their life savings. People often remark on his easygoing personal style, which helps him relate easily to individuals from all walks of life.
Steve relocated to Charlotte from Chicago and has great interest in all things health and wellness, especially those things that keep him feeling young!
Jon began his career in the insurance industry first as an Agent for Combined Insurance and later as a Marketing Consultant for industry giant Financial Independence Group. In his nine years with Financial Independence Group Jon worked directly with hundreds of financial advisors. Over the years Jon became a recognized industry leader in the development of financial advisory practices. In essence, Jon was an advisor to advisors.
Jon’s passion stems from his internal drive for excellence in all he does. Those who work with Jon remark on his energy and enthusiasm. Jon feels blessed to have had the opportunity to mentor along with some of the top financial planners nationwide and now brings a wealth of experience and know-how to bear in solving client puzzles. He enjoys starting with client goals and desires and then building a collaborative plan to achieve the desired outcomes.
Jon grew up in Morganton, North Carolina, and has fond memories of listening to his Dad play bluegrass music. He holds degrees in Tourism Management and Business from UNC Greensboro and is licensed for numerous forms of insurance work along with holding Series 7 and 66 securities licenses. Jon resides in Davidson with his wife Catherine and their two young boys. They are also blessed to share their life with Scout, their Golden Retriever. They enjoy all Davidson has to offer especially boating on Lake Norman, hanging out by the pool and enjoying just about any outdoor adventure. Jon is a Crossfitter and has a strong passion for Carolina Basketball.
Jim graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then completed the US Navy’s Officer Candidate School. His 3 year active duty assignments include a tour in South Vietnam and subsequent training and systems responsibility at the Commander-in-Chief of the Atlantic Fleet Headquarters in Norfolk, VA.
Jim’s career in computer systems continued with Burlington Industries in Cramerton and Greensboro. He served as a consultant and in systems management positions with Burlington, Wrangler, Sara Lee and Guilford Mills.
In 1992, Jim became a partner in Network Systems International. He served as Vice-President of Client Services and played a key role in helping the company develop a full- function Enterprise Requirements Planning system that became a leader in addressing the unique requirements of sales and manufacturing for textile, apparel and home fashions manufacturing companies.
Jim retired in December, 2008 and began a second career in the healthcare insurance industry. He began working with our team in 2010 and, being a senior himself, has particularly enjoyed the opportunity to build relationships with fellow seniors as we jointly travel through the ever-changing world of healthcare insurance.
Jim makes his home in Charlotte with his wife Fran. They also have 3 children and 6 grandchildren in the area.
Maddie is our Marketing Director and joins us with a Digital Marketing background and years of Marketing and Relationship Management experience. Prior to entering the financial industry, she has been a Creative Director and managed Marketing for various businesses in multiple industries. As a member of our Atlanta team Maddie is responsible for a wide variety of things including events, media, client scheduling, and being an important point of contact for future clients.
Suzanne’s first role with SouthPark Capital was as “Director of First Impressions”. In this role Suzanne was most often that first voice you would hear when calling SouthPark Capital and the first smile you saw when arriving at our offices. Suzanne also serves as our corporate baker, lovingly providing those freshly made cookies ever present in our offices.
Since then Suzanne has become a key member of our leadership team where she now serves as Vice President of Operations, where she brings her deep commitment to excellence and her warm style to an ever-broadening sphere of influence. Today Suzanne’s responsibilities spread across Client care, administration, finance, marketing and human resources. In many ways Suzanne is the glue that binds our organizational pathways.
Suzanne earned a BS in Psychology and Sociology from Eastern Illinois University. After working at the management level in the senior services industry, she later chose to focus her efforts in the hospitality field where she worked in a variety of management positions and developed a passion for service excellence, something SouthPark Capital Clients benefit from today. Suzanne enjoys hosting her adult daughter and friends from her native Chicago and introducing them to the live music scene and outdoor recreational facilities that Charlotte has to offer. She is in love with Stafford, her rescued Cairn Terrier mix dog.
While with SouthPark Capital Robin initially focused on quality control and client relations, constructing many of the systems used to ensure client engagement. Robin continues to act as a mentor to our staff with respect to the service ethic we reflect to our Clients. Today, as Director of Accounting and Human Resources she works to ensure integrity in our internal financial systems and to be sure our team always feels heard and appreciated.
Robin holds a BS in Business from Florida State University and a Masters in Counseling from the University of South Florida. Robin is a life-long learner who enjoys humor, reading, traveling, hiking, and spending quality time with family and friends. She makes her home in Charlotte, NC, with her husband George, their daughter Sarah, and Lucy Cupcake, their Golden Retriever.
Prior to joining Wise Path in September, 2012, Beth was the Event Planning Coordinator for the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association for 13 years and then Office Manager for Optical Services International for 6 years. She and her husband, Mark, moved to Alpharetta from Florida in 2005. In her off hours you can find her spending time with Mark, at the barn with their horse Willi, paper crafting with their cat Lily, or reading.
