SOUTHPARK CAPITAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you a Fiduciary?Yes, the advisors at SouthPark Capital are Fiduciaries as defined by investment law. Every advisor holds securities licenses to be able to give investment advice and oversee our clients’ accounts. By more general definition, a fiduciary is a person who holds a legal or ethical relationship of trust with one or more other parties. Typically, a fiduciary prudently takes care of money or other assets for another party.

Our fees all depend on the individual client portfolio structure and the actual use of specific investment choices. Everything we do is customized to the individual and our fees can be adjusted to match the individual portfolio aims. On average, you will find independent boutique firms like ours will charge anywhere from 1% to 1.75% depending on the investment mix.

Is my performance what it should be? What a loaded question! The important things here are the key considerations to take into account. Here the concept of Risk Adjusted Return comes into play. This refers to the idea that your return should be thought of in relation to the risk you are willing to take and not just the current market environment viewed in isolation. In our regular individual client review meetings we address all this at the individual, bespoke level. More than that, we constantly reassess in light of changing client attitudes about risk and reward, shifting market conditions and investment goals.

As professional advisors we are uniquely positioned to ferret out important inconsistencies between expectations about risk and reward. Specifically, it is important to be sure client investment objectives are met but also that they are adjusted as needed since risk/reward appetite is never static. We don’t want to take on unneeded risk just because we’re trying to keep up with the returns our friends brag about. In investing it is imperative to run your own race, always keeping true to yourself and serving no appetites but your own.

Nothing serves this discussion as well as regular one-on-one meetings with a professional advisor. Over time, your advisor learns so much about you that they can’t help but come to care deeply about your success. This makes all the difference.
